Waterstone Wildlife home

Caretakers kept the sick Porcupine overnight before transporting it to Willdife Rescue and Rehabilitation. It appears to have a mange type disease. It could not be left inside the house, because of the bad odor. The caretakers, layed the can on its side and used a 'Have-a -Heart' trap, with the trap door tied open, manuevered into the open end of the trash can. A fan was set up to blow fresh air onto the open air cage. A bowl of water and peanuts were added for snacks overnight. It was a hot August night.

That morning, caretakers drove with the Porcupine in the can in the back of a pick up truck to Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation in Kendalia, Texas, about an hour away. It was left in their care and we were notified of its progress.
